The governor posted on X that the lieutenant governor is a "strong, trusted ally" who helped return more than $9 billion to taxpayers and supported pay increases for law enforcement.
The governor also cited the lieutenant governor's role in passing tort reform legislation.
The endorsed candidate is running against a former college football coach who had received the governor's support. The former coach said his position had not changed and that he would continue to seek voter support in the final day before the election.
Reactions The chairman of one county Republican Party compared the timing of the endorsements to an after-hours stock market announcement. The chairman noted that early voting had already concluded. The governor said voters would decide the Senate contest on Tuesday.
