German June CPI Rises 2.3 Percent Year Over Year, Below Forecast
Preliminary German consumer price data for June showed annual inflation at 2.3 percent, missing consensus expectations. Month-over-month CPI declined 0.3 percent against a flat forecast.

German June preliminary CPI rose 2.3 percent year over year, according to the Statistics Office. The figure fell short of the 2.60 percent consensus forecast. On a month-over-month basis, CPI declined 0.3 percent compared with an expected flat reading.
The same report showed the harmonized index of consumer prices, or HICP, up 2.4 percent from a year earlier. That reading also came in below the 2.50 percent consensus. Month over month, HICP fell 0.2 percent against a flat forecast.
