German and Norwegian ministers traveling to Lebanon on June 1, 2026, had their military aircraft diverted to Cyprus after the security situation on the ground deteriorated too rapidly to allow a safe landing in Beirut. The purpose of the trip was to demonstrate solidarity with Lebanon amid Israel's ongoing military operations.

More than 4,400 people have been killed in Lebanon during the conflict.

Israel is conducting its deepest incursion into Lebanon in two decades. Lebanese airspace is rapidly becoming a no-go zone for incoming flights. @MarioNawfal reported that when Western allies cannot land a solidarity mission, the situation has moved well past diplomacy.
