Giannis Antetokounmpo trade to Heat becomes official

The Milwaukee Bucks completed the trade sending Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis to the Miami Heat on Monday. The deal ends Antetokounmpo's 13-year tenure with the Bucks. In exchange, Milwaukee received Tyler Herro, Kel'el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., the No. 13 pick in the 2026 NBA draft, two additional future first-round picks, a pick swap and a second-round pick.

Farewell message Antetokounmpo posted a video on social media Monday afternoon in which he spoke with longtime Bucks play-by-play announcer Jim Paschke. He said the city of Milwaukee will always be in his heart and expressed hope that winning a championship meant something to fans.

"I believe the city of Milwaukee is blue collar," Antetokounmpo said.

General manager Jon Horst said Antetokounmpo transformed the franchise on the court, in the locker room and throughout the community. Horst added that the decision was made for the future of the Bucks and for Antetokounmpo, and that the organization is grateful for everything he and his family have given.
