Giants RB Skattebo Says He Is Fine After Falling on Ankle During Failed Backflip

New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo fell to the ground after failing to complete a backflip during an appearance at Fanatics Fest on Saturday, July 18. Video of the attempt spread rapidly on social media and showed him landing awkwardly on his right ankle, which underwent surgery last season. Skattebo addressed the incident at another Fanatics Fest event on Sunday.

He said he is "perfectly fine" and "good" following the fall. " Skattebo suffered an open tibia fracture and right ankle dislocation in a Week 8 game against the Philadelphia Eagles during his rookie season. The injury ended his year, yet he has made significant progress in recovery and remains on schedule to participate fully in Giants training camp next month.
The running back had performed a successful backflip after hitting a home run in a celebrity softball game on May 30. New Giants coach John Harbaugh had told him "no backflips" at minicamp last month. Skattebo said he will continue his usual approach regardless of online reaction.
"I'm just going to keep being me, and if they want to say I'm brain-dead, and I don't have no brain, then who cares, f--- it," he said.
