Giants Rout Cubs 18-3 as Matt Chapman Ties Franchise RBI Record with Two Homers
The third baseman tied the Giants' San Francisco-era record for RBIs in a game during a 19-hit rout in Chicago.

He added a three-run homer in the seventh inning off Ethan Roberts that traveled 432 feet and struck an electric ad sign above the bleachers.
He also hit a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning. The eight RBIs tied the Giants' San Francisco-era record, previously reached by Willie Mays on April 30, 1961, Orlando Cepeda in July 1961, Brandon Crawford in July 2019, Joc Pederson in May 2020, and Wilmer Flores in May 2025. Chapman is in his 10th major league season and third with the Giants.
"I feel like I've been doing a good job with runners in scoring position, and I've been having a lot of opportunities with guys on base," Chapman said. Chapman said the grand slam completed his goal of homering in every major league ballpark. "I got Sacramento in Triple-A, so we'll count it," he said.
Willy Adames and Casey Schmitt each hit two home runs, and Jonah Cox hit a solo home run as a pinch hitter. The Giants collected 19 hits and won their third straight game after recording 20 hits in a 12-9 win at Milwaukee on June 4. The Giants hit their second grand slam in two days and have six grand slams this season, all in the past 18 games.
The team is the sixth in MLB history to hit six grand slams in 20 days or less, according to the club. 241 batting average. His previous best was 36 home runs and 91 RBIs with the Athletics in 2019. "I haven't been doing anything different over the last week," Chapman said.
" "We didn't have many guys swinging the bat early and it seems like everybody's kind of come alive at a similar time," Chapman said. " The Giants are 26-38 on the season.
