Giants Sign Veteran Defensive Tackle to One-Year Deal
The New York Giants signed a 32-year-old defensive tackle to a one-year contract on Wednesday. The move followed an injury to a starting defensive lineman last week.
nypost.comThe New York Giants signed veteran defensive tackle Josh Tupou to a one-year contract on Wednesday. The signing adds depth along the interior of the defensive line. Tupou, 32, played in six games over the past two seasons and also spent time on the practice squad.
The Giants suffered a setback last week when a defensive tackle went down in practice with a ruptured Achilles tendon. That player had started all 17 games in 2025. The injury prompted the team to add another defensive lineman. Officials worked out several defensive linemen this past Tuesday, including Tupou.
Tupou went undrafted out of Colorado in 2017.
He spent parts of six seasons with one team before joining his most recent club. A 6-foot-3, 350-pound nose tackle, Tupou has appeared in 71 NFL games with 23 starts, recording 94 combined tackles and three sacks. The Giants had previously signed another veteran to replace a traded nose tackle.
The team used the No. 10 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft on an offensive lineman expected to start at right guard.
