General Motors laid off about 500 to 600 employees on Monday, largely in information technology roles based in Austin, Texas, and Warren, Michigan. Laid-off GM employees received an email about an oddly timed 15-minute virtual meeting. They heard a scripted message from human resources during the call, after which the meeting ended abruptly, terminating their jobs.
