Google presented several new AI features at its I/O 2026 conference that require access to user data stored in Google services. The company described tools designed to organize events, generate daily briefings, and create to-do lists from email content.

Spark is an always-on AI agent that can review inboxes on a schedule and draft messages using information from connected accounts. Daily Brief is rolling out to Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra subscribers and scans Gmail and Calendar for updates. Google first integrated Gemini into Workspace apps in 2024.

The company later introduced Personal Intelligence in January 2026, allowing the system to draw from Gmail, Google Photos, Search, and YouTube history.

Josh Woodward, head of Google Labs, the Gemini app, and AI Studio, said millions of people use Personal Intelligence daily for recommendations and decision support. Gemini Spark can also connect to third-party services including Canva, OpenTable, Instacart, Spotify, Expedia, and Adobe.

During a demonstration, Woodward showed Gemini Spark selecting documents from a Mac computer to draft an email containing a dog's allergies and vaccination records. Google plans to give the agent access to local files on Mac computers. The Verge reported that Gemini's access to data already stored in Google services is presented through a simple opt-in menu.
