Google introduced Universal Cart at its I/O event on Tuesday. The feature lets users add products from Search, Gemini chats, YouTube, and Gmail into one list. Once added, the cart tracks deals, price drops, and stock alerts. The system is designed for shoppers who use multiple devices and retailers over several days.

Google said it can flag compatibility issues, such as mismatched PC parts, and suggest alternatives. It can also surface rewards options through Google Wallet.

Users can complete purchases directly through Google with participating merchants or transfer items to the merchant site. The feature runs on the open-standard Universal Commerce Protocol. U.S. today and will reach the Gemini app this summer, followed by YouTube and Gmail. Google also said the protocol will expand to hotels and local food delivery. U.K. later.

Google detailed updates to its Agent Payments Protocol at the same event. The protocol lets AI agents make purchases within user-defined limits for brands, products, and spending. Google plans to integrate the protocol into its own products in the coming months.

The protocol creates encrypted links between users, merchants, and payment processors. It includes tamper-proof records and audit trails for returns or disputes.
