Google Photos will introduce eight new generative AI filters called Moods and a renamed Video Remix feature. The changes were identified in recent app code and target retro photo aesthetics.
forbes.comGoogle Photos is preparing to add eight generative AI filters that apply specific visual styles to user photos with one tap. The filters, labeled Moods, were found in the latest version of the Android app and include options such as Crisp 35mm, 2000s cinema, and Pink digicam.
The Moods feature analyzes image content before applying the selected style, rather than overlaying a static adjustment. Code for the filters has existed in the app for some time, with 19 additional styles still unused.
A new Video Remix button is also appearing in the app's Create tab. The button replaces an earlier icon and carries a sparkle symbol that indicates use of generative AI. Both the Moods filters and the Video Remix tool are marked as new in the current interface, indicating an expected release soon.
The Moods icon shows a roll of 35mm film without any explicit AI branding. The update continues a shift in Google Photos from a basic storage app toward tools that generate stylized images and video clips directly inside the library.
