Google replaces Fitbit app with Google Health

Google has discontinued the Fitbit app and replaced it with Google Health. The change coincides with the launch of the Fitbit Air wearable. The new app places recent activity updates and notes from an AI health coach on the main landing page. Users must swipe or navigate to separate tabs to view steps, exercise logs, and other statistics that previously appeared on the primary screen.

Some users reported difficulty locating stored workout data after the redesign. Others said the AI coach feature helped them log missed sleep sessions or create workout plans.

User feedback on interface changes Posts on online forums described the new layout as confusing and said the AI-generated text occupied too much space. One post on a Google help center page called the app a "huge disappointment" and asked how to return to the previous version.

Google stated that the AI coach can be disabled through the app's Feature Privacy Controls. A support page indicated that two additional tabs for fitness and sleep appear when a supported wearable is connected. The company previously announced that Google Health would eventually support third-party wearables, though some current devices do not yet unlock the extra tabs.
