Google is developing a feature in its Android app that lets users remotely run and monitor AI tasks on Apple-silicon Macs. The capability connects to the Gemini Spark agent and requires installation of a separate Gemini for macOS app.
forbes.comGoogle is preparing a feature that will let Android users remotely command and monitor AI workflows on Apple-silicon Macs. Forbes.com reported the capability was discovered in the code of the Android Google App version v17.36.12 and is internally called Robin. The feature links to Gemini Spark, the 24/7 AI agent Google announced at I/O 2026.
It relies on an isolated new thread system that keeps sessions connected to a Mac separate from other sessions to prevent data leakage. Users must first install Gemini for macOS on an Apple-silicon Mac. That companion app provides on-demand assistance through the Option+Space keyboard shortcut and can view user-selected desktop windows.
Once set up, the Android app displays strings such as "Use your phone to run tasks on your Mac" and options to select a computer or start a new thread. Forbes.com reported that the remote control would allow tasks such as summarizing folders of PDFs or running compile scripts while the user is away from the desk.
