Google Tests Gemini Spark AI Agent for Google AI Ultra Users
Google began testing an AI agent that performs tasks such as booking reservations and summarizing meeting notes. The tool connects to Gmail, Calendar, and third-party services including Instacart and OpenTable. It is rolling out first to subscribers paying $100 per month.
digitaltrends.comGoogle announced it is testing Gemini Spark, an AI agent that can complete tasks on behalf of users rather than only answering questions. The company said the agent will be available next week to Google AI Ultra subscribers, who pay $100 a month for the highest tier of its AI services.
Spark connects to Gmail, Google Calendar, Docs, and Slides. It can scan emails for school updates or deadlines and turn meeting notes into summary documents, Google stated. The agent can also link to external services such as Instacart and OpenTable to make dinner reservations or order groceries.
Google said Gemini Spark will ask for user permission before carrying out high-stakes actions such as spending money or sending emails. Clarence Lee, a tech entrepreneur and visiting lecturer at Cornell, said users should begin with low-level tasks before giving the agent access to financial information.
Karan Girotra, professor of operations, technology and innovation at Cornell University, said the agent needs context and user data to perform well, which Google tools can supply.
