Google Unveils AI Search Updates and New Gemini Features at I/O 2026

Google introduced Gemini Spark, a cloud-based assistant that monitors credit card statements, tracks school emails, and compiles notes into documents. The tool can interact with third-party apps such as OpenTable and Instacart but requires user confirmation before completing purchases or sending messages.

Google and Samsung showed early versions of Android XR smart glasses developed with Gentle Monster and Warby Parker. The glasses support real-time audio translation, on-screen text translation, and photo capture while allowing users to chat with Gemini.

Google added a $100-per-month mid-tier plan that offers five times the usage limits of the standard $20 plan along with priority access to its Antigravity coding tool and 20TB of cloud storage. The top-tier Ultra plan now costs less than its original $250 price and provides 20 times the usage limits plus access to Project Genie, which generates interactive 3D worlds from Street View imagery.

Omni, a new generative model, can create videos from combined image, audio, video, and text inputs. It is rolling out to the Gemini app, Google Flow, and YouTube Shorts and incorporates improved understanding of physical forces. S. Premium users will gain access next month to a tool that generates personal podcasts based on listening history and user-provided text or documents.
