nypost.comGreek authorities arrested a 37-year-old Palestinian man in Crete on Sunday for allegedly plotting to attack an Israeli cruise ship. The man, described as an electrician, was taken into custody after officials said he placed an online order for chemical agents that could be used to make explosives.
Police searched homes in Crete and Athens and seized cell phones, a laptop, external hard drives, and bank cards.
The arrest is connected to the detention of four other Palestinians in Cyprus who face terrorism-related charges and accusations of belonging to a criminal organization. Officials said the Crete suspect had traveled with one of the Cyprus detainees to Malaysia for training on making explosives from commercially available chemicals.
Cyprus authorities arrested two of the four men on May 22 after finding materials they said could be used to make bombs. Two more were detained on May 29 as part of the same probe. The suspect is scheduled to appear in court on Sunday.
