Groups Enter Brooklyn Manholes at Night Carrying Equipment

Police responded to two separate incidents in Brooklyn where groups of men entered and exited sewer manholes early Friday. m. Footage shows them wearing headlamps and carrying shovels as they climbed out roughly three hours later. One man replaced the cover and jumped on it before the group left the intersection.

m. the same day. A vehicle dropped off seven men with flashlights and equipment, blocked traffic while they entered the manhole, and then drove away after the cover was replaced.

The NYPD said officers are not sure why the groups entered the manholes or whether the two incidents are connected. Police swept both locations to confirm safety. An investigation remains ongoing.
