Gunman kills six and wounds eight in southern Turkey before dying
A 37-year-old man killed his wife and five others and wounded eight people in Tarsus on Monday. Turkish authorities said the suspect died by suicide after police surrounded the house where he was hiding.

Police used helicopters and drones to search for the suspect.
Anadolu Agency reported that he died by suicide inside a house after security forces surrounded the building. The Mersin governor’s office said the man had a history of substance abuse and psychiatric problems.
Turkey has experienced several shootings in recent weeks.
Last month a school shooting in Kahramanmaras province left 10 people dead, and another school attack the previous day wounded 16. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan offered condolences for the deaths after a Cabinet meeting but did not discuss the gunman or his motives.
