Hall of Fame Wide Receiver Launches Bass Fishing YouTube Series and Headlines $3.25 Million Tournament

" The former wide receiver will also serve as an ambassador for The Champions, a new tournament organized by World Bass Enterprises. World Bass Enterprises announced Monday that the inaugural event will take place in Fall 2026 in Tennessee. The tournament will feature the top 50 anglers from Major League Fishing’s Bass Pro Tour and Bassmaster Elite Series competing for a $3.25 million purse, the largest in bass fishing history according to the organizer.

First place will pay $1.25 million. The Champions is scheduled for Oct. 28 through Nov. 1 at Sanders Ferry Park on Old Hickory Lake in Hendersonville, Tennessee, just outside Nashville. "Bass fishing has always been a big part of my life and fuels my competitive fire in retirement," the ambassador said, according to OutKick.

" The ambassador added that partnering with World Bass Enterprises for the series and tournament was a natural decision after being impressed with the company’s leadership and vision from the start. The new YouTube series will chronicle the effort to catch a 10-pound bass, a benchmark in the sport, and will include celebrity guests from sports and entertainment including former Minnesota Vikings teammates.

The ambassador, who recently overcame cancer, described bass fishing and time in nature as a form of therapy after retiring from professional football. The individual noted fishing became a significant part of life during childhood near the Kanawha River in West Virginia and grew further while playing for the Vikings after an introduction by a retired professional angler.

The event will bring together elite anglers from two major professional circuits for the record payout. Organizers positioned the tournament as a major addition to the bass fishing calendar, with the ambassador’s involvement expected to draw additional attention from outside the angling community.

World Bass Enterprises was founded by its CEO and focuses on elevating the profile of competitive bass fishing through high-stakes events and media partnerships.
