The group discussed greenhouse gas management strategies, emissions trading systems, customer carbon-reduction demands and changes to electricity market structures.
Officials presented successful carbon reduction cases from their respective units and identified ways to expand energy-saving measures and renewable energy adoption group-wide. Hankook & Company Group said it will strengthen cooperation among affiliates through a unified carbon management framework.
The company plans to advance renewable energy adoption, emissions permit management and integrated monitoring systems.
Carbon neutrality forms part of the group's long-term sustainability strategy. A Korea & Company official said carbon neutrality is a critical task that affects corporate competitiveness and the sustainability of supply chains. The official added that the group will continue strengthening execution capabilities to generate meaningful emissions reduction results and achieve its 2050 carbon neutrality target.
The initiatives fall under the ESG brand “DRIVING FORWARD, TOGETHER,” launched under Chairman Cho Hyun-bum’s ESG vision.
