The blast killed five workers and injured two others, according to the Daejeon Regional Employment and Labor Office.
Sohn is the third Hanwha Aerospace official to face legal action over the incident.
Daejeon police separately booked Ga Jae-woong, head of the Daejeon plant, on charges of professional negligence resulting in death and injury. Ga had already been booked by the labor office on suspicion of violating the Occupational Safety and Health Act. Three Hanwha Aerospace officials, including Sohn and Ga, have been banned from leaving the country, police said.
Sohn visited a joint memorial altar in Daejeon on June 5 to pay respects to the victims. The first funeral for one of the victims has been held. "We will do our best to clearly determine the cause of the accident and who was responsible through a meticulous investigation," a police official said.
