Hawley Seeks CMS Probe of $1.5 Billion in Medicare, Medicaid Funds to Planned Parenthood

Sen. 5 billion in Medicare and Medicaid payments to Planned Parenthood. In a letter first obtained by Fox News Digital, Hawley urged CMS Administrator Mehmet Oz to examine whether the funds supported gender-affirming medication or referrals for surgical procedures for minors.

That restriction is scheduled to lapse on July 4. Hawley’s earlier amendment to extend the Medicaid funding prohibition until 2035 did not pass. Hawley referenced a Government Accountability Office report, first published in November 2023, that tracked payments to Planned Parenthood from 2019 through 2022.
The GAO report did not specify whether the funds supported transgender procedures.
