The Health Ministry warned Tuesday that Algimal Tahini (Hagamel) imported illegally into Israel may contain Salmonella. Evidence of the bacteria was found in two products during a ministry investigation: a 1-kilogram container produced in March and a 500-gram container produced in April. Salmonella is a common cause of foodborne illness.
The ministry issued the alert after laboratory tests confirmed the contamination.
