Homeowner Moves Neighbor's Bin to Park After Repeated Driveway Placement
A homeowner reported that tenants across the street repeatedly placed their rubbish bin on the homeowner's driveway. The homeowner responded by rolling the bin to a nearby park, where it was emptied during collection.
themarysue.comA homeowner stated that young tenants living in a rental property across the road repeatedly wheeled their rubbish bin onto the homeowner's driveway. The property opposite had five or six vehicles parked outside at all hours. The homeowner positioned two bins on the driveway ahead of collection.
A third bin appeared wedged between them, overflowing with waste and unable to close properly. Security footage showed the tenants from across the street were responsible for placing the bin. The homeowner rolled the bin down the street to a local park rather than confronting the tenants or contacting authorities.
The following morning the bin had been emptied, but the neighbors' bin had vanished and waste began accumulating without a container.
UK regulations require bins to be positioned at property boundaries no later than 6am on collection day. Using another person's bin without consent is illegal under British law. Waste rules vary by local authority, with collection schedules, bin colors, and prohibited items differing by location. Placing incorrect materials in recycling bins can result in refused collections or fines up to £400.
