A Hong Kong delegation traveled to Kazakhstan to promote new business partnerships in professional services, logistics, green energy, mining, technology and education. The visit took place as China's trade with Central Asia grew 12 percent year on year. Officials said the trip aimed to position Hong Kong as an intermediary for mainland Chinese companies entering Central Asian markets.

Shared legal framework The delegation visited the Astana International Financial Centre, which operates under English common law, the same system used in Hong Kong. Officials noted that this common legal base could allow Hong Kong professionals to assist mainland firms with regulatory and commercial matters in Kazakhstan.

Trade growth Trade between China and the five Central Asian states reached $106.3 billion in the first 10 months of 2025, according to China's Ministry of Commerce. That figure outpaced the previous year's growth rate by six percentage points.
