House Passes Non-Binding Resolution on Iran War Powers, 215-208
The U.S. House voted 215-208 on June 3 to require congressional approval for continued hostilities with Iran. Four Republicans joined Democrats in support after a discharge petition forced the measure to the floor.

Four Republicans joined all Democrats in backing the measure. The four were Reps. Thomas Massie of Kentucky, Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania, Tom Barrett of Michigan, and Warren Davidson of Ohio. Democrats used a discharge petition to bring the resolution directly to the floor.
The resolution was introduced by Rep. Gregory Meeks of New York, ranking member of the Foreign Affairs Committee. It is a concurrent resolution and does not carry the force of law or require presidential signature.
Democrats had previously forced several war-powers votes that failed. GOP leadership canceled a similar vote before the Memorial Day recess. The Senate passed a related procedural measure last month.
