House Passes War Powers Resolution to End Unauthorized Iran Conflict
The House approved a measure Wednesday that would require congressional authorization to continue military action against Iran. President Trump called the vote meaningless and criticized four Republicans who joined Democrats in support.
truthout.orgThe House passed a war powers resolution Wednesday that would formally end the conflict with Iran absent congressional approval. President Trump posted a statement on Truth Social Thursday morning that described the vote as meaningless and said it occurred during final negotiations to end the war with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The post stated the House voted with four bad Republicans and all of the Democrats to limit presidential war powers.
Trump asked who would do such an unpatriotic thing and said the four Republicans should be ashamed of themselves. The post said Democrats are fueled by Trump Derangement Syndrome and would rather have the country fail than give him another victory. Tom Barrett of Michigan, Warren Davidson of Ohio, Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania and Thomas Massie of Kentucky voted with 211 Democrats to approve the resolution.
Six other Republicans did not vote.
Thomas Massie lost his primary race last month. >"Yesterday, in a meaningless vote, the House voted, 4 bad Republicans and all of the Dumocrats, to limit my War Powers, right in the middle of my final negotiations to end the War with the Islamic Republic of Iran." — President Trump, Thursday morning (New York Post)
