House Republicans have begun discussions on a third reconciliation bill focused on fraud and affordability before the second one has passed. House GOP leadership met with committee leaders on Tuesday to discuss priorities for a third party-line reconciliation bill.
The move comes as the 2026 midterm elections approach and housing affordability, healthcare and energy have shaped up to be major factors in those contests.
House Budget Committee Chairman Jodey Arrington (R-TX) said Republicans are working through the details on a consensus of documented items that would impact affordability. Arrington added that Republicans want to double down on broad fraud prevention. He also said Democrats won’t help in getting any defense supplemental across the finish line for the war in Iran.
