Authorities in Oklahoma identified two sets of human remains discovered in Love County as those of Molly Miller and Colt Haynes, who disappeared in 2013. Miller was 17 and a member of the Chickasaw Nation, while Haynes was 21. The identification was confirmed by the medical examiner on March 31 for Miller, with Haynes' identification date not specified.

Miller and Haynes were last seen on July 7, 2013, as passengers in a vehicle driven by James Con Nipp. The vehicle became involved in a police chase in Carter County, Oklahoma, and authorities lost track of it in Love County. CBS affiliate KXII reported that the vehicle crashed, and Con Nipp walked away, while Miller and Haynes remained at the scene.

The following morning, on July 8, 2013, Miller and Haynes called friends requesting water and a ride, stating they were lost near a local road, according to a missing poster for Haynes. Two weeks later, the abandoned vehicle was found in the woods, with no sign of the pair. Their disappearance prompted an ongoing search by the Chickasaw Lighthorse Police Department.

The remains were discovered on February 18, 2026, during a search of over 1,000 acres by the Chickasaw Lighthorse Police Department and the Bureau of Indian Affairs' Missing and Murdered Unit. The search area, which had not been previously examined due to rough terrain and lack of access, was identified after new information emerged and land access was obtained.

Searchers examined the site on foot.

The Bureau of Indian Affairs notified both families of the identifications. Authorities have not disclosed the cause of death for Miller and Haynes. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding their deaths remains active and ongoing, according to police.

" — Bureau of Indian Affairs (CBS News) The local district attorney stated that the case will be presented to a multi-county grand jury for formal charges once the investigation concludes. The case involves potential foul play, as indicated by family statements and ongoing probes.

Affected parties include the families of Miller and Haynes, who have awaited resolution for over a decade, and tribal authorities handling missing persons cases within Chickasaw Nation jurisdiction.
