Humans First Plans Protests Against Data Centers in 22 States on July 18

Humans First will host protests against data centers across 22 U.S. states on July 18, including 11 demonstrations in Texas and seven in Florida. Insider reported that the group, founded earlier this year, is led by chair Amy Kremer.

Kremer, cofounder of Women for Trump and Women for America First, said the protests respond to residents who do not want hyperscale data centers in their communities. She stated that each community should decide what infrastructure it accepts rather than accepting a nationwide or statewide moratorium.

Kremer told Insider that data centers first drew her attention in 2024 through social media videos of local opposition.

She described the facilities as the backbone of AI and called the issue the most important fight of her lifetime, adding that the technology could wipe humans off the face of the planet. More than 1,400 data centers had been built or approved by the end of 2025, Insider reported.

A Gallup poll published in May found that over 70 percent of Americans surveyed do not want a data center in their backyard.

Kremer said she learned that data centers require American energy and land yet leave residents without a voice in decisions. She attributed the projects partly to federal actions, noting that President Trump's administration accelerated permitting and backed the $500 billion Stargate Project to build large data centers for AI.

Kremer stated that Congress must act to protect Americans and that President Trump's executive orders on frontier AI testing need to go further.

She added that as a parent she would not wait for Congress when communities face risks.
