Hunter Biden said on Gov. Gavin Newsom’s podcast, which aired Friday, that the full and unconditional pardon his father issued in December 2024 will likely be remembered as a defining and controversial part of Joe Biden’s legacy. “It’s going to be one of the first things that is written about him,” Hunter Biden stated.
“That’s how much you know my dad loves me. ” Joe Biden granted the pardon weeks before leaving office and shortly before sentencing was scheduled in the federal gun and tax cases against his son. The action reversed earlier public assurances that he would not intervene in those cases.
Hunter Biden acknowledged that both he and his father understood the pardon would draw criticism and potentially overshadow other aspects of the former president’s time in office.
