Hyun Bin received the Best Actor award in the broadcast category for his performance in the Disney+ series Made in Korea. Cameras captured his wife, actress Son Ye-jin, who was attending as a nominee, holding up her phone to film him as he walked to the stage.
In his acceptance speech, Hyun Bin said, "My wife Ye-jin, who is sitting right in front of me, and my beloved son — thank you so much for your support during filming. " The pair, who starred together in the drama Crash Landing On You, have been married for four years.
Veteran actor Yoo Hae-jin received the Film Daesang for his role in The King's Warden, a historical drama that surpassed 10 million domestic admissions. The film also received the Gucci Impact Award for its social messaging. On the broadcast side, Ryu Seung-ryong received the Grand Prize for his performance in The Dream Life of Mr. Kim, a drama about a middle-aged man after a layoff.
The Netflix series Our Unwritten Seoul received Best Actress for Park Bo-young and Best Director for Park Shin-woo. Park Bo-young, who beat nominees including Kim Go-eun, Park Ji-hyun, Shin Hye-sun and Lim YoonA, said in her speech that the drama addressed the question of whether someone else's life appears better than one's own.
She added that she had been driven for years by a desire not to fall behind other skilled actors, whom she described as pacemakers. Park Jinyoung, also nominated for Our Unwritten Seoul in the same acting category, was among those in the audience.
Park Ji-hoon won Best New Actor in the film category for The King's Warden and the Naver Popularity Award for Male. The film also took the Film Daesang and Gucci Impact Award, making it the top film title of the night.
This year's ceremony marked the first time the Baeksang Arts Awards included a Musical Division, established with the Korea Musical Theatre Association. Kim Jun-su received Best Performer in Musical for Beetlejuice, Seo Byung-goo received the Creative Achievement award for Evita, and Arang was named Best Musical.
In the variety category, Kian84 received Best Male Entertainer and Lee Su-ji won Best Female Entertainer for the second consecutive year. The full winners list included Best Drama for You and Everything Else, Best Film for No Other Choice, and additional awards in supporting, new talent, screenplay, and technical categories across broadcast, film and musical divisions.
