ICE Arrests Five Convicted Criminal Illegal Aliens During Police Week
Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents arrested five convicted criminal illegal aliens on or about May 12 2026 in locations across the United States. The operation removes individuals convicted of murder child sex crimes fentanyl distribution and arson from communities and advances prioritized interior enforcement against public-safety threats.

The arrestees are Than Van Pham a Vietnamese national convicted of two counts of first-degree murder in Wichita Kansas; Hung Quoc Bui a Vietnamese national affiliated with the Asian Boys Gang convicted of sex with a minor three or more years younger in Orange County California; David Zavalz-Jaramillo a Mexican national convicted of aggravated sexual assault of a child in Hidalgo County Texas; Miguel Mejia-Santana a Dominican Republic national convicted of distribution and possession with intent to distribute 40 grams or more of fentanyl plus unlicensed firearms dealing in Boston Massachusetts; and Alejandro Paulino-Espidio a Mexican national convicted of arson of an inhabited structure in Fresno California.
The operation targeted individuals who had completed criminal sentences in the United States and remained in the country unlawfully. Prior to these arrests the individuals were at large following their convictions. The arrests occurred during National Police Week and took effect immediately with the individuals now in ICE custody pending removal proceedings.
The action triggers standard deportation processes for each individual under existing immigration statutes. Federal prosecutors and courts that handled the original convictions will receive notice of the removals. State and local law-enforcement agencies in the five jurisdictions gain confirmation that the named offenders no longer remain in their communities.
ICE must now coordinate with foreign governments for repatriation which in turn activates consular verification steps required before physical removal.
This marks the latest documented interior enforcement action focused on noncitizens with the most serious criminal convictions. The Department of Homeland Security has previously publicized similar targeted arrests of individuals convicted of homicide sexual assault against minors and large-scale drug trafficking.
Congress has separately funded expanded interior enforcement capacity through annual appropriations to ICE.
