ICE arrests five criminal aliens convicted of child sex abuse, assault on pregnant woman and drug trafficking
On May 7 2026 agents arrested Miguel Angel Rodriguez-Ramirez, Enrique Garcia-Pineda, Miguel Simon-Marcial, Pedro Fernandez and Raul Magana-Herrera in separate operations across California, Idaho, Texas and Florida. The arrests signal continued interior enforcement priority on noncitizens with the most serious criminal convictions for removal from the United States.
theurbandaily.comU.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested five individuals convicted of child sexual abuse, assault on a pregnant woman and drug trafficking on May 7 2026.
The arrestees are Miguel Angel Rodriguez-Ramirez of Mexico, convicted of continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14 in Redwood City, California; Enrique Garcia-Pineda of Mexico, convicted of lewd conduct with a minor under 16 in Gooding County, Idaho; Miguel Simon-Marcial of Mexico, convicted of assault on a pregnant woman in Travis County, Texas; Pedro Fernandez of Cuba, convicted of cocaine trafficking in Hialeah, Florida; and Raul Magana-Herrera of Mexico, convicted of conspiracy to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine in Tampa, Florida.
The operations spanned four states and targeted individuals previously convicted in local jurisdictions.
The arrests shift enforcement resources toward convicted offenders who remained in the United States after prior sentencing. Under the current administration's direction, ICE now prioritizes removal of noncitizens with these categories of convictions over earlier policies that de-emphasized interior enforcement for some criminal aliens.
The change took effect with operational direction issued after January 2025 and produces immediate removals once convictions are verified.
Downstream, the action requires receiving countries to accept the return of their nationals under standard repatriation agreements. State and local law enforcement agencies that previously cooperated on detainers now see federal follow-through on those holds, which can reduce repeat bookings in county jails.
Federal prosecutors gain clearer capacity to focus on new cases once these individuals are removed from communities in California, Idaho, Texas and Florida.
This operation follows a series of ICE interior enforcement actions that began in early 2025. The Department of Homeland Security has documented similar arrests of individuals with child-sex-offense and violent-crime convictions in multiple states since the start of the current administration.
The May 7 arrests align with the stated operational focus on the highest-priority criminal convictions rather than broader categories of noncitizens.
