Gov. Janet Mills stated she had been briefed on the fatal incident involving federal law enforcement. She said Maine state police are cooperating with local and federal officials in the investigation.
Sen. Susan Collins said the FBI is investigating. "The shooting in Biddeford requires a full and impartial investigation of what happened," she stated. Maine Speaker of the House Ryan Fecteau said a shooting occurred in Biddeford on the morning of July 13, a person was killed, and ICE was involved.
He added that state police and the Department of Public Safety are on scene gathering details and expect the FBI to investigate. Former state Sen. Troy Jackson issued a statement about the shooting in the community about 15 miles south of Portland, Maine.
