IDF to Complete Counter-Drone Technology Tests on Wednesday

The IDF, Defense Ministry, and defense contractors are set to complete a series of capability tests on Wednesday. The tests draw on both local and international sources to counter fiber-optic and racer drones. A security source reported that efforts are underway around the clock to develop solutions.

Those solutions are to be presented to the defense minister. The announcement comes as the prime minister is scheduled to meet this evening with senior defense officials. The meeting will address the threat posed by drones. An IDF spokesperson said yesterday that an IDF soldier was moderately injured and a reserve soldier was lightly injured by a drone strike near the Lebanon border.

The soldiers were evacuated to a hospital for medical treatment and their families were notified.

The tests and planned meeting reflect heightened concern over drone attacks along Israel's northern border. Officials are accelerating development of countermeasures using both domestic and foreign technology. The incident reported on Tuesday is the latest in a series of drone strikes in the area.
