Andre Iguodala said July 10 that LeBron James' reported interest in joining the Golden State Warriors serves as a testament to Stephen Curry. "As I've been saying since 2013, Steph Curry, no one understands how great he is," Iguodala told ESPN. Iguodala, the 2015 NBA Finals MVP, linked the potential move to a recent text exchange in which a friend noted the significance of another top player joining Curry.
He also called James "the athlete of our generation" and "the best player of our generation" as the Lakers star enters his 24th NBA season. The remarks followed the National Basketball Players Association's announcement that former Warriors chief legal officer David Kelly will succeed Iguodala as executive director.
Iguodala referenced the Warriors' three titles over James' Cleveland Cavaliers and Kevin Durant's 2016 signing with Golden State at age 27.
Golden State finished the 2025-26 season 37-45 and missed the playoffs beyond the play-in tournament. Curry averaged 26.6 points, 4.7 assists and 3.6 rebounds per game while earning an All-Star selection.
