# Ikea's Varmblixt Lamp Launches with Remote and App Controls Ikea has introduced the Varmblixt lamp, which features color-changing, dimming, and smart home control capabilities. The lamp works with its included remote out of the box without requiring a hub. It includes a replaceable bulb.

The Varmblixt lamp pairs with the Bilresa remote using a few button presses. Once paired, the lamp responds to a single button press to turn on or off, a double press to change color, and a long press to dim. The Bilresa remote costs $6.

Integration with Ikea's Home Smart App Adding the Varmblixt lamp to Ikea's Home Smart app requires an Ikea Dirigera hub.

To connect the lamp to the Dirigera hub, users reset both the lamp and the Bilresa remote by holding their programming buttons down for a few seconds. Connection proceeds by scanning the Matter QR code into the Home Smart app using an iPhone. The Home Smart app allows adjustment of brightness, choice from a wide spectrum of colors and tunable whites, enabling adaptive lighting, and setting up scenes for the Varmblixt lamp.

The app offers pre-set Sleep and Wake scenes that gradually dim and brighten the lamp over 30 minutes. With the remote connected to Home Smart, the Bilresa remote can be turned into a scene controller to control scenes created in the app with button presses. The Bilresa remote can control multiple lights if the room is equipped with Ikea or Matter-compatible lighting and smart plugs.

Expanded Smart Home Features Connecting the Varmblixt lamp to the Dirigera hub allows adding Ikea's Myggspray motion sensor to turn on the lamp when motion is detected.

Ikea's Myggspray motion sensor costs $9. The Varmblixt lamp was designed with the help of artist Marcelis. These features enable basic and advanced control options for the lamp within Ikea's smart home ecosystem.

The Verge reported on the Varmblixt lamp's specifications and setup process.
