Incheon International Airport recorded its one billionth cumulative passenger on July 7, 2026, 25 years after it opened on March 29, 2001, Yonhap reported. The passenger was identified as 28-year-old Ayaka Hara from Japan. Airport operator Incheon International Airport Corp.
Presented her with a plaque and a plane ticket. The total equates to an average of 108,000 passengers per day, 4,513 per hour and 75 per minute since opening, according to the operator. The airport reached 100 million passengers in October 2005 and 500 million in July 2016.
Incheon reached the one billion mark faster than several peers. Munich International Airport took 33 years and 10 months, Singapore Changi Airport 35 years and five months, Narita International Airport 39 years and two months, and Dubai International Airport 58 years and two months, the operator said.
Service has expanded from 33 countries, 109 cities and 47 airlines at opening to 53 countries, 183 cities and 101 airlines.
