The Indiana Fever defeated the Washington Mystics 78-76 on Monday after Caitlin Clark made a 31-foot three-pointer with 1.2 seconds remaining. The Fever had led by as many as 17 points in the second half before the Mystics closed the gap. Sonia Citron made two free throws with 4.3 seconds left to give Washington a 76-75 lead.

Clark had missed two free throws earlier in the fourth quarter. On the final possession she received a pass from Sophie Cunningham after running off a screen and released the shot from the far wing.

Game details Clark finished with 19 points, three rebounds and five assists on 7-of-16 shooting, including four three-pointers. The Fever improved to 5-5 after starting the season 4-2 and then losing three of their previous four games. "Better make this because I missed my free throws," Clark said after the game when asked what she was thinking on the final shot.

"All those plays are plays we work on after practice, so everybody knows their role," she added. " A teammate said Clark makes big shots and has big moments. The coach said the shot was an opportunity for Clark to feel more like herself and regain confidence.

Clark had faced criticism in recent weeks for on-court performance and interactions with officials and teammates. She said the fire and passion are part of who she is and that she is always learning how to be a better leader.
