Indiana Governor Says Chicago Bears Stadium Talks Have Advanced
Indiana Governor Mike Braun stated that negotiations over a potential Chicago Bears stadium in the state have progressed. Illinois Governor JB Pritzker said the state remains competitive and may call a special legislative session.

Braun made the comments during an event at Valparaiso University. He compared the process to real estate deals and noted that talks had moved faster in recent months than during the previous five and a half years in Illinois.
Pritzker said the state has offered infrastructure support and remains close to completing a stadium deal. He stated that Illinois lawmakers may hold a special session to address a stalled property tax incentive bill. Pritzker said the state does not want to raise taxes and believes it is as close as any location to finalizing an agreement.
The Bears announced on June 5 that they were moving forward with plans for a stadium in Hammond, Indiana. Team president and CEO Kevin Warren is scheduled to speak at an event on July 16 where stadium plans are expected to be discussed. The team purchased land in Arlington Heights, Illinois, in 2023 for nearly $200 million before exploring the Indiana site.
