A new app called Indigo is launching today to let users explore the open social web across multiple services under one roof. Indigo brings Mastodon and Bluesky together in one seamless experience. The app features a unified timeline that syncs across devices and a composer that lets users cross-post to Mastodon and Bluesky at once.

The app is designed by Soapbox Software. Soapbox Software developed the cross-posting tool Croissant, which offers an easy way to post to Mastodon, Bluesky, and Threads from one interface. Indigo co-creator Ben McCarthy, who also developed the Obscura apps and others, noted to TechCrunch that the new app was built on the team’s previous experience with Croissant while also adding new features that make it a great standalone app for users of both open social networks.

Bluesky profiles are outlined in blue while Mastodon profiles appear in purple. This visual distinction helps users differentiate content from each network within the shared timeline. Indigo includes an option to automatically scroll to the top as new posts arrive.

It also offers the ability to hide NSFW content, mute users or keywords, filter which replies users see and enable a dark mode. Users can access all custom feeds and lists from both Mastodon and Bluesky through the “more” menu. Indigo tracks notifications across both services and provides universal search across Bluesky and Mastodon.

99 per year. 99 one-time purchase option for those seeking permanent access. Currently, Indigo works across iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

TechCrunch reported that the app arrives as decentralized social media gains traction among users seeking greater control over their algorithms, feeds and moderation choices.
