IndyCar Schedules Return to Arlington for Java House Grand Prix in 2027
IndyCar announced on May 11, 2026 that the Java House Grand Prix of Arlington will return March 19-21, 2027. The event follows the series' inaugural race on a temporary street course through the sports and entertainment district surrounding AT&T Stadium.
ForbesIndyCar will return to Arlington, Texas for the Java House Grand Prix on March 19-21, 2027, officials said on May 11, 2026. The announcement follows the inaugural event held March 13-15, 2026 on a temporary street course that passed by AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys, and included the surrounding entertainment district with Texas Live and Loews Hotels.
The relationship between the series promoter and local sports franchise owners contributed to the decision to bring the event back for a second year. Organizers described the debut as successful, citing a race-day grandstand sellout, record merchandise sales for a non-Indianapolis 500 event, and ticket sales that reached all 50 states and 20 countries.
Viewership for the 2026 race rose 142 percent over the third race of the 2025 season, when 552,000 viewers watched the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach. It also increased 54 percent over the prior year's average viewership for the comparable time slot.
73 luxury suites were sold for the inaugural event. Two clubs, the WinStar Winners Club and the Horseshoe, were constructed with the race track running underneath to provide unique viewing angles. The weekend combined racing with fan zones, hospitality areas and family programming, creating a destination event beyond the competition itself.
The temporary circuit wove through one of the area's prominent sports and entertainment districts. Race officials said the setup delivered access for fans while serving as a backdrop for the NTT IndyCar Series race. Enhancements are planned for the 2027 running to build on the first year's results.
“It went to a first-class neighborhood,” the series owner and chairman of the Penske Corporation said. “When you get down, the Rangers and the Cowboys, and they really turned out for us. I think our whole group did a great job there. ” The series owner added that the event created interest from other potential host cities.
“The only friend we didn't have was the wind down there, which hurt us because we had to take a lot of the things down because we were concerned about the wind. ” Bill Miller, president of the Java House Grand Prix of Arlington, stated that the response to the first year was exceptional.
“From the sold-out grandstands to the incredible support from our fans, partners and the Arlington community, the response to the inaugural event was exceptional. ” The race was won by Kyle Kirkwood of Andretti Global, who passed the leader with 16 laps remaining and held on for his sixth career series victory and fifth on a street course.
