Instagram began rolling out the ability for users to rearrange posts in their profile grid on June 8, 2026. The change is being delivered through the Android and iPhone mobile apps and follows nearly a year of limited testing. Until the update, posts appeared in fixed chronological order aside from the option to pin three posts at the top.

Once the feature activates on an account, users can long-press and drag any post to a new position regardless of its age. Pinned posts stay at the top after rearrangement. Instagram head Adam Mosseri announced the planned change in January 2025.

In that announcement he apologized to users whose profile layouts had been disrupted when the app moved from square thumbnails to taller vertical images.
