Primary elections Tuesday in Iowa open a campaign season that includes three competitive U.S. House races, one Senate race and an open governor's contest. The results will help determine which party holds majorities in both chambers of Congress this fall.

" Outgoing Governor Kim Reynolds cited state-level gains in test scores, affordability rankings and wage growth, along with new limits on abortion access. She said Republican control of Iowa's congressional delegation shows why voters should elect more Republicans.

" Representative Ashley Hinson, the Republican Senate candidate, told attendees the election will contrast "common sense and crazy" and that Democrats want to spend, regulate and tax more.

Republican primary for governor President Trump endorsed Representative Randy Feenstra for governor on Friday. Iowa Republican Party Chairman Jeff Kaufmann urged supporters to unify after Tuesday's vote, saying failure to do so "could" bring "consequences."
