Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi met with the ambassadors of China and Russia to review recent developments on the U.S.-Iran memorandum of understanding. Gharibabadi stated that the three countries' officials exchanged views on the memorandum and that their strategic partnership and coordination would continue.
The memorandum under discussion would extend a ceasefire for 60 days in exchange for Iran reopening the Strait of Hormuz and the United States ending its blockade of Iranian ports. Further issues, including Iran's nuclear program, U.S. sanctions, and the release of Iranian assets, remain for a later phase of talks.
Israeli forces carried out air raids and artillery strikes in southern Lebanon, targeting areas in the Nabatieh and Tyre districts. Lebanese authorities reported that a soldier was wounded after being fired upon twice while traveling on the Kfar Reman–Nabatieh road.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson said the memorandum would not be signed on Sunday but did not rule out signing in the coming days. Pakistan's prime minister stated that the parties are close to an agreement and suggested signing electronically to lock in the initial 30- or 60-day period.
