Iran Says It Will Administer Strait of Hormuz but Signals U.S. Cooperation Possible

Iran's chief negotiator said the country will administer the Strait of Hormuz. Mohammad Ghalibaf stated that Tehran will control transit and volume through the waterway. He said the Strait of Hormuz will never return to the way it was before the war.

-Iran talks in Switzerland, France 24 reported. Negotiations continue over regional security arrangements and the future of the Strait of Hormuz. The remarks came on Tuesday. Iran plans to require vessels traversing the Strait of Hormuz to buy insurance, amounting to a de facto toll.

Ghalibaf said the U.S. and Iran can work together to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
