Iran Launches Missile Strikes on U.S. Facilities in Gulf Region

Iranian state media said the country launched missile and drone strikes on U.S. military facilities in Iraq, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Jordan beginning Friday night. The same reports stated that Iranian forces also struck Saudi infrastructure and Kuwaiti oil, power, and water facilities.

Iran’s official state broadcaster warned people to stay away from American military bases and urged regional allies to close them.

Jordan’s armed forces said they intercepted missiles and drones that entered the kingdom’s airspace. Kuwaiti authorities reported damage to power and desalination plants and said emergency crews were working to restore services. A child was injured in Qatar during the strikes, according to reports from the region.

Minister said the country had suspended its commitments under a memorandum of understanding with the United States. U.S. officials stated that American strikes targeted only military sites and that further action would be taken in response to the attacks.
