Iranian drones and missiles struck Kuwait International Airport on Wednesday, killing one person and injuring more than 60 others, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Health said in a post on X. CENTCOM denied Iranian media reports that Iranian forces had struck the U.S. 5th Fleet headquarters in Bahrain and a U.S. air base.

Cross-border exchanges continue Israel intercepted two rockets fired from Lebanon on Wednesday, the Israel Defense Forces said in a Telegram post. The IDF also fired a drone near Beirut that struck a vehicle, Lebanese security sources told Reuters. Hezbollah said its fighters fired rockets at Israeli troops near the historic Al-Shaqif Castle in southern Lebanon at 18:30 local time on Wednesday in response to Israeli violations of the ceasefire.

A White House official said the United States remains aware of Hezbollah attacks on Israel undertaken without Lebanese government consent and welcomes both governments' commitment to a long-term solution.

Ceasefire remains fragile The exchanges add to a series of incidents that have occurred on April 22, May 4, May 7, May 25 and Sunday despite an existing ceasefire agreement. "The ceasefire becomes more fragile each day that passes without a real diplomatic process to resolve the conflict," Adam Weinstein, deputy director of the Middle East program at the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft, told the Daily Caller News Foundation.

U.S. spending on the conflict has reached an estimated $29 billion, Department of War Comptroller Jules W. Hurst III told a House Appropriations Subcommittee on May 12. The proposed 2027 National Defense Authorization Act includes an additional $2 billion for foreign nations.
