Iran and Pakistan Agree to Raise Trade Target to $10 Billion

Iran’s Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni met Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi in Tehran and announced an agreement to raise the annual value of economic exchanges between the two countries to $10 billion. Momeni said the increase would cover border security, drug interdiction, and counter-terrorism cooperation.

He also thanked Pakistan for its mediation efforts aimed at lowering tensions between Iran and the United States.

The letter addressed the current situation involving the U.S.-Israel conflict with Iran. Naqvi said he hoped the message would help bring the conflict to an end. He is also scheduled to meet Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. Iran’s World Cup team, now based in Mexico, has been told it must enter and leave U.S. territory on the same day for its three matches scheduled in Los Angeles and Seattle.
